Welcome Message from BFSA President, Anthony Scott

President Message

Welcome to the Black Faculty & Staff Association (BFSA) at the University of Minnesota!

As the new President of the BFSA, I am excited and honored to serve our community. I want to express my gratitude to the past executive board for their exceptional leadership and hard work, which has built a strong foundation for us to continue growing.

Our mission is to build and maintain a well-connected community of Black employees, enhancing our collective sense of belonging and affinity to the University of Minnesota. The BFSA is dedicated to promoting a supportive community, offering resources and opportunities for development, and ensuring a strong voice for Black faculty and staff across the University.

Our purpose is reflected in our ongoing efforts to:

  • Cultivate a supportive community and enhance the sense of belonging for Black employees.
  • Address quality of life issues specific to Black faculty and staff across all University departments.
  • Promote increased opportunities for initial employment, retention, career growth, and professional development for Black employees.
  • Enact a unified voice on matters affecting the Black community at the U of M.

I am eager to work alongside each of you as we build on the progress we've made and create an even stronger, more connected BFSA. Together, we will continue to foster an environment where Black faculty and staff can thrive both personally and professionally.

Thank you for your support, and I look forward to all we will accomplish.

Warm regards,
Anthony Scott
